Summary
Rebirth is a puzzle-narrative game for PC/WebGL that tells a healing story through simple, symbolic interactions instead of complex mechanics. The narrative splits my personal experiences into two protagonists—Lia (physical abuse) and Heng (verbal abuse within family)—and follows their emotional process of confronting pain and moving toward “rebirth.”
Gameplay is intentionally lightweight so players can stay focused on the story, using interaction to carry meaning without heavy explanation. Visually, the game uses a hand-painted picture-book style inspired by the kind of books I grew up loving, creating a gentle tone that supports reflection and comfort.
Design-wise, I applied Gestalt thinking—treating interaction, music, and visuals as a single emotional whole—and relied on simple visual symbols and color changes (Law of Prägnanz) so players can intuitively read emotional shifts without feeling “gamey” friction.
